Overview
We will pick you up from your selected location in Luxor, and our first stop will be at the magnificent complex of Karnak, with its ruined temples, chapels, and a sacred lake, are the result of many pharaohs contributing buildings to the site over a period of at least 2,000 years, making Karnak the largest and most impressive temple complex in Egypt if not the world. The great hypostyle hall, containing 134 gigantic free-standing columns covering an area of 6,000 square meters, typifies the immense grandeur of the main temple, and then, we will visit the elegant temple of Luxor, in the heart of the city, parallel to the Nile riverbank, which is considered one of the most majestic architectural wonders of ancient Egypt. Visit the Sanctuary of Amun’s Barque and find out how Alexander the Great wrote himself into Luxor´s history. Later in its history, the temple became a Roman fort, and in the 14th century a mosque, dedicated to Sheikh Abu El Haggag, Luxor´s patron sheikh, was constructed within its walls. After that, we will escort you back to your selected location in Luxor. Next, lunch will be served in an authentic restaurant overlooking Habu Temple (Vegetarian meal is available upon request), and then we will start exploring the west bank by visiting the Valley of the Kings’ where we will visit 3 of the most reserved royal tombs (not including entry to Tutankhamun, Seti I, and Ramses V & Ramses VI). After that, we will visit The Mortuary Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, near the Valley of The Kings, which was built by the royal architect Senenmut, who oversaw the construction of the temple. Hatshepsut’s temple employs a lengthy, colonnaded terrace that deviates from the centralized structure of Mentuhotep’s model – an anomaly that may be caused by the decentralized location of her burial chamber, next, we will visit the Colossi of Memnon, the two gigantic sitting statues that represent Amenophis III facing the Nile. Later, we will escort you back to your selected location in Luxor
