It was used as the necropolis for the ancient capital of Memphis and served as the burial ground for Egyptian pharaohs and high-ranking officials from the Old Kingdom through to the Late Period. Key highlights of Saqqara include: Step Pyramid, Pyramid of Teti and Tombs of the Nobles.
